| Ortiz Hits 2 home runs in Death Stars Win | Willis Ortiz was instrumental in his team's 5-1 triumph over the Antioch Coal Miners. The right fielder went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Detroit Death Stars. Detroit starter Alex Rivas was credited with the win after throwing 103 pitches over 7.1 innings. His record now stands at 10-5. Detroit goes to 60-48. The win puts them 4½ games up in their division.
In the top of the first, Ortiz pounced on a 2-2 forkball from Bob Tamez and hit a solo home run. It put Detroit on top, 1-0.
After the game, Ortiz refused to speak to a reporter for the Detroit Daily News. "You've accused me of throwing teammates under the bus," he said. "So, excuse me if I decline to answer your questions."
