| Caterpillars Win at Joplin, 5-3 | Peoria and Joplin duked it out at The Firepit and the Caterpillars came out victorious.
Joplin got a terrific performance from pitcher Dan Fram, but it wasn't enough to beat the Peoria Caterpillars. Peoria won the The Firepit contest, 5-3. Fram was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball. Po-sin Pang got the win, improving to 1-3. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Jose Nunez got the save, his 4th in 5 chances.
Had John Bloom not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Bloom hit a grand slam. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Caterpillars.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Bloom said.
Joplin now has a 5-game losing streak.
