| Bears Continue Skid Thanks to Fugate, Paczkis | The Canton Paczkis trumped the Birmingham Bears, 9-5, at Edgbaston. Canton first baseman Dallas Fugate was named player of the game for his performance. He was 2-4 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Jonathan Salas, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed 5 runs on 6 hits in 6 innings. Birmingham has now lost 5 consecutive games.
Fugate had a big at-bat with the bases loaded in the top of the fourth inning, when he hit a grand slam. The Paczkis went on to win.
"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Canton manager Brian Moore.
