| Cacti Score Late, Top Bumblebees, 3-2 | Jerry Kennedy could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Pasadena Bumblebees lost, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Albuquerque Cacti at Albuquerque Sports Stadium. Albuquerque reliever Melvin Arambula picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-1. Jerry Kennedy was collared with the loss. The Cacti now have a mark of 49-52.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Gil Cozart came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Pasadena pitcher Willy Ortiz, he hit a first pitch cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Albuquerque on top, 3-2.
Cozart said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
