Rockhounds Come Up Short at San Diego

The San Diego Hops extended their winning streak at The Brew Stade.

The San Diego Hops took Midland pitcher John Denny's best shot and still were able to claim a win at The Brew Stade. The final score had San Diego getting past the Rockhounds, 2-1. Denny went 8 innings and allowed 1 earned run, striking out 11. San Diego reliever Adam Stoltzfus was the winner. His record is now 1-0. John Denny took the loss. Jimmy Shumaker earned the save, his 6th.

The Hops got a big at-bat from designated hitter Fletch Hiller. For the game, Hiller went 1-3. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 14th hit of the season gave San Diego a 2-1 lead.

"This team is real focused right now," said San Diego manager Carl Best.

The Rockhounds drop to 13-13 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2038 season.
