| Canadians Prevail, 3-1, Over Detroit | Vancouver Canadians starter Pete Willoughby was in fine form against the Detroit Death Stars at Stanley Park, leading his team to a 3-1 win. Brad Harr, credited with the save, is now 2 for 3 in save opportunities. The Canadians raised their record to 45-56.
The Canadians got a big at-bat from right fielder Cheol-chung Back. For the game, Back went 1 for 3 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 39th hit of the season gave Vancouver a 2-0 lead.
"Pete did a tremendous job," said Vancouver manager Anthony Weinstein.
