| Coal Miners Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras | Despite a fine performance by catcher Tadahisa Iwamoto, the Cairo Sphinx suffered a 7-5 loss to the Antioch Coal Miners. Iwamoto slugged 2 home runs. Antioch reliever Su-gyung Park was credited with the win, to go to 4-6. William MacDougal took the loss for Cairo. George Fortin Jr., credited with the save, is now 2 for 4 in save opportunities.
Bradley Jones's hit in the top of the 11th was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a slider from William MacDougal for a run-scoring double. It put Antioch in front, 6-5.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Jones told the Antioch Observer.
The first-place Coal Miners, at 63-40, now lead their division by 2˝ games.
