| Phantoms Come Up Short at Detroit | Detroit starter Ramón Gómez pitched effectively against the Coronado Phantoms at The Death Star. The right-hander led his team to a 4-3 win. The winning pitcher was Gómez, now 7-5. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Detroit is now 58-41, 9 games up in the TMLAAA Joe Torre Division.
Tomas Robles, who is tied for 8th in the TAAA in doubles with 22, aided the Detroit cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the designated hitter went 1-3 with a double and a walk.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Gómez told reporters after the game.
