| Bombers Top Kodiaks in Extras | The Bronx Bombers got a stellar effort from pitcher Fidel Betancourt, helping Bronx score a 2-1 win over the visiting Calgary Kodiaks. The Bombers bumped their record to 55-41 with this latest triumph.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder James Briggs came to bat in the bottom of the 11th. Facing Calgary pitcher Joe Manfredi, he hit a first pitch cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Bronx on top, 2-1.
"It was a test of wills," said Glen Slaughter, the Bronx skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
