| Fireballs Get Past Detroit for 2-1 Win | Fans who gathered at The Firepit saw a good contest between the Joplin Fireballs and Detroit Death Stars.
The Joplin Fireballs did just enough to secure a 2-1 victory over the Detroit Death Stars at The Firepit. Nobody did more than pitcher Bobby Lloyd, who captured player of the game honors. Jason Graves earned his 18th save in 19 chances.
Joplin took a 2-1 lead on Brad Mathews's 5th home run of the season. The solo home run came off Detroit pitcher Carlos Solís in the bottom of the eighth.
"I like what I saw today," said Joplin manager Nobuharu Chikafuji, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
Joplin has now won 4 straight.
