| 5 Straight Wins for Bombers | Calgary pitcher Chris Dodrill gave the Bombers all they could handle, but in the end, Bronx left Bronx Ballpark with a 3-2 win. Dodrill allowed 2 earned runs on 6 hits over 7.1 innings. The win was Austin Drake's in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Lai-hsiang Zhang took the loss for Calgary. Jeremy Carr, credited with the save, is now 6 for 6 in save opportunities.
The Bombers got a big at-bat from left fielder Jihei Suyama. For the game, Suyama was 1 for 4. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 5th hit of the season gave Bronx a 3-2 lead.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Bronx skipper Glen Slaughter.
The third-place Bombers now have a 5-game winning streak.
