| Fireballs Best Death Stars in Pitching Duel | The Joplin Fireballs got a strong performance from pitcher Dan Fram, who stymied the Detroit offense en route to a 2-1 win at The Firepit. Fram went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 8. His record improves to 6-2. Joplin now has a 3-game win streak.
The Fireballs got a big at-bat from second baseman Juan Gruzmán. For the game, Gruzmán went 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Joplin a 2-0 lead.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Joplin skipper Nobuharu Chikafuji.
