| Gaffaney Helps Bombers Run Win Streak to 3 | Bronx first baseman Bill Gaffaney was instrumental in his team's 7-5 win over the Astoria Argonauts. Gaffaney went 2-3 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Bombers. Tony Aaron got credit for the win, improving to 3-6. He allowed 3 runs on 8 hits in 5 innings. Bronx has now won 3 straight, while the Argonauts have lost 3 in a row.
Gaffaney contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Bronx in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-2, Gaffaney took a fastball from Mauro Rodríguez and stroked the home run to right. His 10th home run of the season allowed the Bombers to leap in front, 4-3.
In comments to the Bronx Today, Gaffaney admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
