The Detroit Death Stars beat the Reno Raiders, 8-6, at House of Pain. The Death Stars got a fine performance from third baseman Ed Noel, who captured player of the game honors. He went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Detroit reliever Barrett Lamb was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Mei-shan Huang took the loss. Yukihiro Nakamoto notched his 2nd save in 3 chances.

Had Kitaw Malecela not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Malecela hit a bases-clearing double. That made the score 7-5, in favor of the Death Stars.
