| Coal Miners Win at Peoria, 5-1 | The Antioch Coal Miners and Peoria Caterpillars completed their game despite the rain.
The Antioch Coal Miners topped the Peoria Caterpillars, 5-1, with first baseman Tony Martinez playing a big role. Martinez was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Coal Miners in the win. Antioch reliever Ijaz Kharoti picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Carl Kurucz was saddled with the loss.
Martinez had a big at-bat with runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the seventh inning, when he hit a 3-run home run. The Coal Miners went on to win.
"The vibe's good," said Antioch manager Hervé Barthélémy. "We've got to keep it going."
The second-place Coal Miners now have a 4-game winning streak.
