| Willoughby Dazzles in Vancouver Win | In a low-scoring game between Vancouver and Albuquerque, pitcher Pete Willoughby was excellent. The Vancouver right-hander was named the player of the game in Vancouver's 2-0 win. Cai-fei Men got the save, his 5th in 10 chances. The Canadians saw their record improve to 36-46.
Willoughby, a native of Malaya, Philippines, was dealing all game. He kept Albuquerque hitters off-balance, while giving the Canadians 7 quality innings. Willoughby threw 83 pitches, allowing 1 hit and striking out 8.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Vancouver manager Anthony Weinstein said.
