| Flash Fall Short at Peoria | It was a good time at Excavatar Park, where fans came to watch the Fairfield Flash and Peoria Caterpillars get after it.
The Peoria Caterpillars took Fairfield pitcher Alex Garrastazu's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Excavatar Park. The final score had Peoria getting past the Flash, 2-1. Garrastazu went 8 innings and allowed 1 earned run, striking out 12. Peoria reliever Carl Kurucz picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Eduardo Fuentez shouldered the loss.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Peoria pinch hitter Chris Bramel, facing Eduardo Fuentez, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Caterpillars the 2-1 win.
Bramel said afterward that he was "glad the fans were treated to a good ballgame."
The 5th-place Caterpillars improved to 40-42.
