| Ming Goes Wild, But Fireballs Win | Joplin withstood an impressive performance by Albuquerque second baseman Fu-chi Ming to defeat the Cacti, 9-7, at The Firepit. Ming was 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice. Jason Graves, credited with the save, is now 12 for 13 in save opportunities. Joplin has now won 3 in a row.
The Fireballs got a big at-bat from left fielder Art Barker. For the game, Barker was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 73rd hit of the season gave Joplin a 6-5 lead.
In postgame comments to the Joplin News, Barker said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
