| Rockets Clip Fireballs in Tight Contest | Reno Rockets starter Lance Crumpton pitched a strong game against the Joplin Fireballs at Red Rocket Field, leading the Rockets to a 6-5 win. The winner was Thomas Wright in relief. His record improves to 2-4. Jason Graves took the loss. Reno, now 32-48, holds last place in the Nick Adenhart League Tony La Russa Division.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Reno first baseman Héctor García, facing Seijii Matsumura, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Rockets the 6-5 win.
"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Crumpton.
