| Tornadoes Stay Hot, Beat Bombers | Kansas City beat South Carolina on the strength of starter Luis Hernández's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 4-3 win. Hernández, now 3-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing 3 earned runs. Kansas City, now 19-4, is setting the league on fire so far.
Omar Avila had a big run-scoring single for the Tornadoes in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Kansas City trailing 3-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Braden Halladay and stroked the single to left. It was his 27th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tornadoes ahead, 3-2.
