| Bumblebees Throttle Argonauts, 5-1 | Pitcher Ramón Martínez was sensational for the Pasadena Bumblebees in his team's 5-1 triumph over the Astoria Argonauts. Martínez received player of the game honors, while picking up the win. Astoria has now lost 4 straight.
The Bumblebees got a big at-bat from second baseman Jose Ybarra. For the game, Ybarra went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 4th double of the season gave Pasadena a 2-0 lead.
In comments to the Pasadena Herald, Martínez admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
