Cairo pitcher Julio Rivera did his part in helping his team beat the Fort Worth Cats, 4-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. William MacDougal converted his 10th save in 13 tries. Cairo now has a 8-game win streak.

The Sphinx got a big at-bat from center fielder Ed Burr. For the game, Burr was 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 52nd hit of the season gave Cairo a 3-1 lead.
