| Cats Bang Out 9-7 Win Versus Birmingham | The Fort Worth Cats knocked off the Birmingham Bears, 9-7, at LaGrave Field. Troy Tisdale, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Fort Worth won. The second baseman went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Jim Currie, who went 5.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with no runs on 4 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 3-2. Bob Campos converted his 10th save in 12 tries.
Javier Santos, who is tied for 6th in the NAL in stolen bases with 21, helped out the Fort Worth cause in the bottom of the second inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the center fielder drew 3 walks.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Santos.
Fort Worth goes to 47-26. The win puts them 9½ games up in their division.
