| Sphinx Turn Back Vancouver, 4-3 | The Sphinx grabbed a win, 4-3, at Stanley Park, overcoming a fine effort from Vancouver pitcher John Gayden. Gayden went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Ron Ogden earned the win to go to 4-4. He allowed 3 earned runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. Mitsuzuka Koyama converted his 4th save in 5 tries.
Had Orlando Talamantez not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Talamantez hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Sphinx.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Talamantez told reporters after the game.
The Sphinx, at 38-34, have now won 4 straight.
