Fireballs Trip Mustangs in Extras

The Joplin Fireballs scored a 5-4 win versus the Billings Mustangs at The Firepit. Joplin pitcher Dave McCrudden nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Joplin reliever Bobby Lloyd picked up the win, upping his record to 3-4. Brian Mullins absorbed the loss. Joplin is 4th in the Darryl Kile League Joe Torre Division with a record of 28-38.

The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Rob Kirkland came to bat in the bottom of the 11th. Facing Billings pitcher Brian Mullins, he hit a 3-1 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Joplin on top, 5-4.

"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Kirkland said in his postgame press conference.
