| Sphinx Lose, 3-2, at Edgbaston | Jun Nakayama pitched well, but his team, the Cairo Sphinx, still dropped a 3-2 decision to the Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston. Birmingham reliever Francisco Palazuelos picked up the win to move to 8-4. Jun Nakayama suffered the loss. Jim Clemons was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 7 of 7 save opportunities.
The Bears got a big at-bat from right fielder Albert Rivas. For the game, Rivas was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 10th home run of the season gave Birmingham a 3-1 lead.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Rivas.
