| Coal Miners Win at Billings, 7-5 | Billings got a terrific performance from first baseman Jimi van der Pol, but it wasn't enough to beat the Antioch Coal Miners. Antioch won the Cobb Field contest, 7-5. van der Pol was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Antioch reliever Bernard Edgar picked up the win, upping his record to 5-3. Lex Herrewijn shouldered the loss. The Coal Miners bumped their record to 38-27 with this latest triumph.
Antioch relied on the hitting of Terry Richardson to pick up the win. The second baseman ripped a 2-run triple in the top of the fourth inning to put the Coal Miners on top, 3-0. For the game, Richardson had 1 triple and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"This is a very good team," said Richardson. "We have the chance to do something special."
