| Victory Pushes Racers Record to 33-29 | Top of the Hill was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Bowling Green Racers and the Birmingham Bears.
Getting a good performance from center fielder Danny Solis, the Bowling Green Racers defeated the Birmingham Bears, 4-3. Solis was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI for the Racers. Bowling Green reliever Tony Gutierres picked up the win to move to 1-0. Jason Hammond suffered the loss.
Solis had a game-changing single in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-1 fastball from Brian Christ, he banged a run-scoring single to left-center, giving the Racers a 3-2 lead. It was the 68th hit of the year for Solis.
"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," Solis told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."
The Racers bumped their record to 33-29 with this latest triumph.
