| Argonauts Prevail, 7-5, Over Bronx | The Bronx Bombers got a superb performance from first baseman José Alomar. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Astoria. The Argonauts won the game, 7-5. In spite of the loss, Alomar was named the player of the game. He was 3-5 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Astoria reliever Miguel Rodríguez picked up the win to move to 1-0. Fidel Betancourt suffered the loss. Justin Gilmore converted his 11th save in 13 tries.
The Argonauts got a big at-bat from shortstop Ryan Crawford. For the game, Crawford went 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Astoria a 6-4 lead.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Crawford told the Astoria Observer. "It's as simple as that."
The Bombers, now 36-24, have lost 4 in a row.
