| Death Stars Fall Short at Minneapolis | The Minneapolis Freeze eked out a 6-5 win versus the Detroit Death Stars at The Ice Box. Nobody did more than second baseman Cecil Dell, who captured player of the game honors. The winner was Minneapolis reliever Augusto Pacheco, now 3-0. The loser was Jimmy Gregus. Jesus Espinoza converted his 5th save in 6 tries.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the eighth, with Minneapolis trailing 5-4, Jonathan Fitzwater was at the plate when Minneapolis scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Freeze to go in front, 6-5.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Dell told the Minneapolis Observer.
With the win, the Freeze improved to 23-33.
