| Late Rally by Canadians Secures Win | The Vancouver Canadians saddled the Coronado Phantoms with a loss at Phantoms Field. The final score was 5-2. Bill Rendell, named player of the game, was 2 for 3, including 1 single and 1 home run. The Vancouver third baseman scored 1 run and drove in 4. The Phantoms, now 25-34, have lost 6 straight.
Rendell had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 1-0 cutter from Jarrod Cousins, he banged a grand slam home run to left-center, giving the Canadians a 5-1 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Rendell.
"I thought we played a nice game," Rendell told the Vancouver News. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
