| Redbirds Raise Rally Flag, Beat Minneapolis, 8-5 | Candiac catcher Zack Gunn was instrumental in his team's 8-5 win over the Minneapolis Freeze. Gunn, who leads the DKL in extra base hits with 23, went 2-4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Redbirds. Michael Walsh, credited with the win, is now 3-6. He allowed 5 runs on 12 hits in 9 innings. Candiac goes to 21-32, Minneapolis to 21-31.
Had Roberto Ayala not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Ayala hit a grand slam. That made the score 8-5, in favor of the Redbirds.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Gunn said.
