Fairfield beat Silver Lake at Durham Bulls Athletic Park, eking out a 2-1 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Carlos Vela, who earned player of the game honors. Vela got the win, improving to 1-3. He allowed 4 hits and walked 4 over 6 innings. Vela allowed no earned runs. Eduardo Fuentez sewed up the save, his 6th.

The Flash got a big at-bat from center fielder Hoshi Ishikawa. For the game, Ishikawa went 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Fairfield a 2-0 lead.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Fairfield skipper Ramón Torrez.

At 27-24, the Flash find themselves in second place in the Nick Adenhart League Tony La Russa Division.
