The Bronx Bombers beat the Canton Paczkis, 5-1, at Mckinley Park. Bronx catcher Dave Thorpe earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. The Bombers bumped their record to 31-18 with this latest triumph.

Thorpe had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 2-2 fastball from Clive Macaulay, he banged a 3-run home run to center, giving the Bombers a 4-1 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Thorpe.

"Enjoyed this one," Thorpe told the Bronx Today. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
