| Raiders Stymie Coronado, Take 4-1 Win | The Reno Raiders topped the Coronado Phantoms, 4-1, in Darryl Kile League action at Phantoms Field. The player of the game was Reno pitcher and Japan native Iemitsu Shiroi. Picking up the save was Diego Contreras, his 10th. The Raiders are now 22-27, while the Phantoms fall to 24-28.
It could have been a different outcome for Reno, had it not been for Phil Goodenough, the 29-year old shortstop . Goodenough contributed a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the top of the seventh inning to put Reno up, 3-1.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Reno skipper Ralph Oakes.
