| Fireballs Lose, 4-1, at Edgbaston | Birmingham Bears starter Tim Gary turned in an exceptional performance against the Joplin Fireballs at Edgbaston, resulting in a Birmingham win, 4-1. Picking up the save was Jim Clemons, his 3rd. Joplin has now lost 4 consecutive games.
Matt McDade aided the Birmingham cause with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the left fielder was 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Gary said.
