Sphinx Win in Extras

Jimi van der Pol did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Billings Mustangs from losing, 8-6, to the Cairo Sphinx at Cobb Field. van der Pol went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The Sphinx move to 24-24 with the win, while the Mustangs drop to 29-17.

The Sphinx got a big at-bat from catcher Tony Cervantes. For the game, Cervantes went 1 for 1. In the top of the tenth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 4th hit of the season gave Cairo a 6-5 lead.
