| Victory Pushes Death Stars Record to 26-17 | Detroit played host to Reno at the friendly confines of The Death Star.
Reno got a terrific performance from shortstop Darren Michels, but it wasn't enough to beat the Detroit Death Stars. Detroit won the The Death Star contest, 7-4. Michels was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 3-4 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Detroit is now 26-17, 3½ games up in the Darryl Kile League Joe Torre Division.
The Death Stars got a big at-bat from first baseman Chris Whatley. For the game, Whatley was 1-4. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 45th hit of the season gave Detroit a 5-4 lead.
"Enjoyed this one," Whatley told the Detroit Daily News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
