| Coal Miners Win in Glorious Fashion | Coronado got a terrific performance from pitcher Ricky Alvarado, but it wasn't enough to beat the Antioch Coal Miners. Antioch won the The Coal Mine contest, 3-2. Alvarado was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 5 innings of 1-hit ball. Antioch reliever Sung-your Park picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Joe Starring took the loss. The Coal Miners bumped their record to 28-19 with this latest triumph.
Jesús Castillo was the walk-off hero for Antioch. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Coal Miners right fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Castillo.
