| Sphinx Score Late, Top Bears, 9-8 | Birmingham catcher John Watt had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 9-8, to Cairo at Pharaoh's Temple. Watt belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Cairo reliever William MacDougal picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Nobuhiko Newton was saddled with the loss. Cairo, at 22-22, sits in third place in the Nick Adenhart League Tony La Russa Division.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Cairo designated hitter Jesús Solís, facing Francisco Jacobo, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Sphinx the 9-8 win.
"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Solís.
