Avery, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 10, walking 0, and allowing 1 earned run. With the win over Silver Lake, the Racers improved to 19-21.
Simon Leeflang aided the Bowling Green cause with a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth. For the game, the second baseman was 1-4 with a double.
