| Beavers Beat G.o.D. in 11 | The Portland Beavers trumped the Tonga G.o.D., 5-4, at Waterfront Park. Portland left fielder Eddie Villegas was named player of the game for his performance. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Portland reliever Olivier Martin was credited with the win, to go to 1-1. Robinson Merrado took the loss for Tonga. The Beavers, now 15-6, have played some good baseball in the early going.
Villegas had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the 11th. On a 1-0 curveball from Robinson Merrado, he banged a solo home run to right-center, giving the Beavers a 5-4 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Villegas.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Villegas told the Portland Times.
