| Bombers Topple Mustangs with Late Rally | Bronx and Billings duked it out at Cobb Field and the Bombers came out victorious.
The Bronx Bombers had to overcome a big game from Billings first baseman Jimi van der Pol to leave Cobb Field with a 8-6 victory. van der Pol went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Reliever Tom Madson picked up the win. His record improves to 2-0. Blake Connell took the loss.
Had Dave Thorpe not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Thorpe hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Bombers.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Thorpe.
The Bombers bumped their record to 25-14 with this latest triumph.
