| Bombers Clip Mustangs in Tight Contest | The Bronx Bombers got a magnificent effort from pitcher Tim Oliver, who kept Billings hitters in check en route to a 2-1 Bombers win at Cobb Field. The winner was Roger Montgomery in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Lex Herrewijn took the loss. The Bombers bumped their record to 24-13 with this latest triumph.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the top of the eighth inning. That's when first baseman José Alomar hit a single. The Bombers went on to win.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Billings manager Jorge Magana.
