| Maroney goes 3-for-3, Baristas Move to 24-12 | The Silver Lake Baristas grabbed a 7-1 win over the Fairfield Flash at Ashton Gate. Silver Lake left fielder Sterling Maroney was 3 for 3 with a home run, a triple, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 to earn player of the game honors. The winner was Jared Jones in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Carlos Vela took the loss. The Baristas bumped their record to 24-12 with this latest triumph.
The Baristas beat the Flash in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single José Tobías produced in the bottom of the first. Batting against Fairfield pitcher Carlos Vela, Tobías gave his team a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Silver Lake manager Diego Aguirre.
