| Fireballs Score Late to Upend Freeze, 5-3 | The Joplin Fireballs defeated the Minneapolis Freeze, 5-3, in Darryl Kile League action at The Ice Box, with Joplin pitcher Dave McCrudden named player of the game. The win puts the Fireballs at 13-21, while the Freeze drop to 11-23.
Jim Baker hit a run-scoring double off Jesus Espinoza in the top of the ninth, which put the Fireballs in front, 3-2. In addition to the double, Baker had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 4.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," McCrudden told a Joplin News reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
