Bush Goes Off, But Fireballs Win

Fort Worth second baseman Ken Bush had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 9-7, to Joplin at The Firepit. Bush was 3-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Bernardino Pacheco, credited with the win, is now 2-2. He allowed 6 runs on 8 hits in 7 innings. Jason Graves, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.

Had Benjamin Donahoo not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Donahoo hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Fireballs.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Nobuharu Chikafuji said.

The Fireballs, with just their 8th win in 27 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.
