| Argonauts Score Late to Upend Racers, 9-5 | Steve Pyles left his imprint on the 9-5 Astoria win against the Bowling Green Racers. Pyles went 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. Astoria reliever Eric Martindale picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Bill Almy absorbed the loss. Astoria is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 10th win in 27 games.
Pyles had a game-changing single in the bottom of the eighth. On a 2-2 slider from Ryan Nichols, he banged a run-scoring single to left-center, giving the Argonauts a 5-4 lead. It was the 25th hit of the year for Pyles.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Pyles told the Astoria Observer.
