| Fireballs Lose, 2-0, at Mckinley Park | The Joplin Fireballs got a superb performance from pitcher Luis Rodríguez. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Canton. The Paczkis won the game, 2-0. In spite of the loss, Rodríguez was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings allowing 2 runs. The Fireballs, at 7-19, have stumbled out of the gate.
The Paczkis got a big at-bat from first baseman Dallas Fugate. For the game, Fugate was 1-3 with a home run. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Canton a 1-0 lead.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Fugate, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
