| Death Stars Lose, 3-1, at Albuquerque Sports Stadium | Albuquerque got a first-rate effort from pitcher Ken Stein, who frustrated Detroit hitters en route to a 3-1 Cacti triumph at Albuquerque Sports Stadium. In 5 innings, Stein surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Hiroshi Nagasawa locked down his 5th save.
The Cacti got a big at-bat from left fielder Cliff Berk. For the game, Berk went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Albuquerque a 2-1 lead.
